The old cottage is beautifully restored and typical of this region, snuggling on the terraced mountain side. It is in a secluded, peaceful location with wonderful views hidden away in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains.  It is a great base from which to explore this stunning corner of Spain known as La Alpujarra.

The facilities are simple but charming. There are 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 5 people leading off a small courtyard. There is a double bedroom, a single bedroom and a bunk bed room. The bathroom has a bath with a shower and a wash basin, the water is solar heated with an electric water heater as backup when the sun doesn't shine. The eco-friendly compost loo is down a short path with an amazing view!  The kitchen/dining room is well equipped for self catering and the adjoining cosy sitting room has a wood burning stove for the winter months. There is also a dining patio shaded by an olive tree.

The swimming pool is chlorine free and is filled weekly with fresh mountain water.  It is set in a lovely garden and is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery.

The land is terraced and wooded with many fruit trees. There is fruit in season most of the year and you are welcome to pick your own oranges , figs, grapes and pomegranates to name a few.

Parking is available on the land and is a short walk up a steep hill, so you do need to be reasonably fit, have good walking shoes or sandals and be prepared to carry in your luggage and shopping etc.

Children are welcome but best for children over 3 years old .

The local market town of Orgiva is just a 20 minute walk away with a variety of tapas bars and restaurants to enjoy. Buses run from there to Granada and the surrounding area for those without a car.

The area is noted for its wild beauty and is ideal for those who love mountain walking, bird watching, horse riding and being in the heart of nature.

If you want to go further afield it is a 1 hour drive to the fabled city of Granada and the Alhambra Palace, ( tickets are best booked on line) and a 40 minute drive to the beaches of the Costa Tropical.
